How to change rotary lobes, wear plates and cartridge seals

The following videos show the assembly and disassembly of a Vogelsang rotary lobe pump and how to change rotary lobes, wear plates and cartridge seals.

The first part of the video shows the first steps of the service of the rotary lobe pump.

First of all shutdown the rotary lobe pump, open the oil chambers, remove the front cover and remove the lobes.

Installation of cartridge seals by placing o-ring onto the seal, brushing o-ring and seal with gear oil.

Using seal extractor plate when reinstalling the plate and  using lobes and pressure disks to set seals into proper position

Installation of wear plates and small o-ring at the base of each shaft.

Installation of the keys by tapping each key into the channel of the shafts.

Installation of the lobes by cleaning the entire lobe.

Installation of the lobes in tandem and aligning lobes with the keys

Installation of new o-rings onto pressure disk and insert new strain screw

Torque new strain screws to 147 foot punds , loosening strain screws, torque again to 100 foot pounds

Pressure test to verify proper seal installation, installation of the bottom buffer chamber and gearbox plugs
