Rotary lobe pump VX136-140Q: Transport of hydrocarbons
Case Study - Befesa Industrial Waste Management

Problem

High maintenance and material costs

Solution

Compact VX136-140Q rotary lobe pump with QuickService

The customer and the problem

Befesa Industrial Waste Management is a national leader in industrial cleaning services for industries. One of Befesa Industrial Waste Management’s main activities is cleaning industrial tanks, particularly in the petrochemical industry. A combination of specialized industrial cleaning equipment was used to clean the tanks. A tanker with a higher pressure piston pump removed the dirt in the tank, and then a depressor tanker was used to suck out the fluid.

The main problem with this approach was that the fluid traveled through the tanker, and had to be cleaned after each use. In addition, it was not possible to pump at different pressures and distances. This approach was inefficient and costly.

The solution

As a solution, Vogelsang rotary lobe pumps were installed in four of their tankers to pump the hydrocarbon mix retained at the bottom of the tanks. The Vogelsang pumps are able to handle and pump viscous, aggressive chemical and with high solids content media. Thanks to the QuickService concept the maintenance is easy and fast, and the availability is higher.

Vogelsang rotary lobe pumps are perfect for mobile applications, because they are very light and compact. The reversible direction of flow enables the vehicle to be loaded and unloaded with a single pump. They were able to depreciate the purchase cost in less than a year.

Befesa Industrial Waste Management has recently decided to install the fourth Vogelsang pump VX136-140Q in another of its specialized industrial cleaning equipment.
