Higher efficiency along the digestion line: Vogelsang at EnergyDecentral

| Press, Biogas, International

Essen (Oldenburg), Germany, October 4, 2022 – For EnergyDecentral (November 15–18, 2022, Hannover Messe), Vogelsang GmbH & Co. KG will be atbooth F18 in hall 25 to present systems and components from pumping, shredding and solids dosing technology that make biogas plants even more economical and thus future-proof.

“The current political situation makes domestic biogas production even more important, because biogas is not only used for decentralized power and heat generation but can also replace fossil natural gas,” says Harald Vogelsang, Managing Director of Vogelsang. Furthermore: “In contrast to wind energy, the cost-intensive expansion of the transmission grid is not needed. If political parameters are rearranged to fit the new situation, biogas production can make an important contribution to the energy transition and support countries in becoming more independent of energy imports.”

The focus at the Vogelsang stand is therefore on energy-efficient systems and components that optimize the operation of existing biogas plants and contribute to a higher gas yield.

HiCone progressive cavity pump: innovative adjustment system for a long service life

The HiCone progressive cavity pump with its innovative adjustment system, which Vogelsang is launching on the market at EnergyDecentral, stands for reduced life cycle costs thanks to its long service life and lower energy requirements.

The clamping between the rotor and stator can be adjusted during the pump’s entire service life at the touch of a button or from the control room at the click of a mouse. It can be quickly and easily adapted to different pumping tasks and changing operating parameters such as pressure, viscosity or temperature, and can thus be reduced to the minimum required level.

This means a service life that is 2 to 3 times longer and maximum efficiency with minimum power consumption.

“We have thus developed a revolutionary, patent-pending adjustment system that was not previously available on the market in this form,” says Rainer Zobel, Director Sales EU Industry, Wastewater & Biogas at Vogelsang. “This once again underscores our innovation leadership in pump technology.”

Lower power consumption through intelligent start-up automation

In addition, the very high power consumption that usually occurs with progressive cavity pumps when starting up the pump, is reduced to a minimum by an intelligent automatic start-up system. This increases energy efficiency, especially for short pumping cycles. At the same time, this also reduces the costs for the power electronics.

Vogelsang has developed this innovative adjustment concept for all four sizes of the HiCone series. This means that the system can be installed in progressive cavity pumps even with high flow rates of up to 290 cubic meters per hour. As a result, for the first time ever, it is possible to individually adjust and readjust the pump for many applications in the biogas sector.

Unique on the market: QuickService concept also available in the upper performance range

The QuickService concept makes it easy to change parts without dismantling the outlet or inlet pipeline. In addition, a display also provides information about the wear status at all times. In use, this means no unexpected breakdowns. Service and maintenance work can be carried out according to schedule. The robust progressive cavity pumps of the HiCone series reliably convey highly viscous and abrasive media, as well as media heavily contaminated with debris. This makes them suitable for almost all applications in biogas plants.

Efficient debris management: Debris Lift Unit and Debris Removal System

Vogelsang will also present the Debris Lift Unit (DLU) for the first time at a German trade show. The combination of the DLU with the Debris Removal System (DRS) ensures fully automatic discharge and removal of separated heavy material into a waiting container. This occurs during operation, thus eliminating the need for time-consuming manual intervention. Together with the PreMix, the universal and energy-saving liquid feeding system from Vogelsang, facility operators can make their biogas plants even more modern and efficient.

XSplit: innovative separation technology

Vogelsang will also be showcasing the new XSplit press screw separator. The XSplit’s unique concept offers outstanding value for money, is low-maintenance and service-friendly and achieves a dry matter content of up to 40 percent in the solid–liquid separation of liquid manure and digestate. The repositioning of the drive at the solids outlet means that no extra shaft seal is required. This reduces wear costs and the time required for maintenance. At the same time, the new concept enables reliable plugging without the addition of auxiliary agents.

While the XSplit exhibited in hall 25 gives trade show visitors an insight into the details of the technology, the separator can be seen as a mobile system solution consisting of separator, VX series rotary lobe pump, RotaCut wet cutter and control technology, mounted on a trailer at EuroTier in hall 27, at booth B32.

More gas, less power consumption: mechanical disintegration systems

At EnergyDecentral, Vogelsang will also be advising on the processing of structurally rich biomass by means of mechanical disintegration. Thus, long-fiber and coarse input materials such as straw, grass or manure can be processed with the DisRuptor from Vogelsang. This reduces the amount of internal energy required and at the same time increases the gas yield. Vogelsang will also be providing information on other systems from the pumping and shredding technology segments.
