Vogelsang at IFAT: High-performance grinding technology and mobile pump systems for efficient wastewater handling

| Press, Wastewater

Essen (Oldenburg), Germany, April 28, 2022 – Vogelsang GmbH & Co. KG will present its grinding and pumping solutions for efficient wastewater and sludge handling at IFAT in Munich (May 30–June 3, 2022, Messe Munich). At booth 347/446 in hall B1, the focus will be set on the XRipper twin-shaft grinder series. In addition, in the outdoor area between halls B1 and B1 on area 14, Vogelsang will showcase its new concept for mobile pump systems that are suitable for flexible use in sewage treatment plants, the sewer system or in civil protection.

“Wastewater infrastructure is subject to severe loads through heavy rain, wet wipes and other disruptions. Our robust, modern grinding and pump solutions ensure that sewage treatment plants and sewer systems operate smoothly and wastewater is efficiently treated and cleaned,” says Harald Vogelsang, Managing Director of Vogelsang GmbH & Co. KG.

Robust and durable: Ripper rotors made from one block of special steel

The One-Piece Ripper rotors guarantee high-performance grinding. They are made from one block of special steel and feature hardened, durable cutting edges. While these Ripper rotors were previously only available for some XRipper models, they are now standard in all XRipper series models. The One-Piece Ripper rotors manage without a support shaft, which simplifies handling. Nevertheless, the drive performance is transmitted evenly across the entire length of the rotors. Vogelsang: “We manufacture the contactless running Ripper rotors on high-precision CNC machinery. This minimizes tolerances and ensures highly efficient grinding in the long term.”

Easy parts replacement: first rotate, then replace

The design of the One-Piece Ripper rotors is symmetrical. In the event of an impending replacement of parts, the rotors can first be turned 180 degrees and continue in operation. This facilitates sustainable use and thorough exploitation of the cutting performance of the Ripper rotors before a complete replacement is required in the case of wear.

XRipper system solutions for retrofitting

The wastewater grinder XRipper is easy to retrofit in existing pump systems as a system solution for compact protection against wet wipes and clogging. Vogelsang assembles the required sensors, power electronics and safety technology at the factory and connects them to the control system. The entire unit is put into operation before delivery and tested. Afterwards, it only has to be installed at the user’s site and connected via plug and play. The system is then immediately fully functional.

Networked control technology

The XRipper XRG and XRC grinder units are particularly suitable for retrofitting in sewers, for example in open channels or shafts, and optionally also in ATEX zones. If required, networking the system solution via ProfiNet or other communications standards is possible with the existing system controller. The XRipper can thus also be controlled via existing technology. The intuitively operable user interface of the Performance Control Unit (PCU) offers easy access to all operating data – even on a tablet or smartphone, regardless of location.

Flexible deployment of mobile pump systems

In the outdoor area of the trade fair, Vogelsang will present its new concept for mobile pump systems, which can be individually equipped according to requirements and can thus be used flexibly. The core of the system concept is made up of the rotary lobe pumps of the VX series with a pumping capacity of up to 1,400 cubic meters per hour. If necessary, the connections can be swiveled and adjusted to the respective application situation – for example, in flood and catastrophe protection or during construction work in the sewer system. In addition, the connections can be converted to a variety of standard hose couplings such as Kamlock, Perrot or Storz. Suction and pressure hoses are stored in a space-saving but accessible manner.

The mobile pump unit is driven either by electric or diesel motors. For the latter drive version, modern units are available which also meet the strict guidelines of the Stage V emissions standard. In this case, the diesel tank is integrated in the console, thus saving space and weight. Moreover, this gives the system a lower center of gravity and is safer to transport as a result. The pump system can be installed on all kinds of trailers or chassis and easily positioned using lifting lugs.
