Essen/Oldb., October 10th, 2016 – At this year's EuroTier & EnergyDecentral from November 15th to 18th, 2016 in Hanover (Hall 25, Booth E18), Hugo Vogelsang Maschinenbau GmbH will be presenting its new products for solid matter treatment and feeding – directly linked to the BIOGASmax consultancy services for repowering biogas plants.

"Trouble-free conditioning and feeding of input substances is key to the economic efficiency of biogas plants," explains Harald Vogelsang, Managing Director of Vogelsang. "Vogelsang offers solutions for an extensive variety of substrates. This enables plant operators to use a wide range of different substances for rapid, efficient and low-cost energy production."

DisRuptor: Economical concept for mechanical disintegration
With the DisRuptor, Vogelsang presents a new system for mechanical/physical disintegration of substrates. On November 14th, Vogelsang will be awarded the EnergyDecentral Innovation Award 2016 for its innovation. The DisRuptor's functional unit contains a rotor equipped with wings that turns at high speed. In a narrow gap between the rotor unit and exterior ring, the DisRuptor crushes and grinds solid matter. Unlike conventional systems, the DisRuptor can be individually adapted to the relevant application and the substrate via a sophisticated adjustment mechanism. Due to this unique feature, the flexible functional unit can attain a significantly higher flow capacity at a reduced power consumption of up to 80 m3/h organic suspension with an installed capacity of 15 kW, thereby ensuring more efficient substrate treatment.

The DisRuptor enlarges the contact surfaces for bacteria and reduces viscosity of the organic suspension. The larger material surface enables faster conversion of substrates into biogas. This decreases the power consumption as well as running times of mixers, prevents floating layers and increases the specific gas yield in the long term. "Due to the lower operating costs per m3 of disintegrated substrate, investing in substrate disintegration with a DisRuptor will pay for itself within a short time," explains Vogelsang Sales Manager Markus Liebich.

DebrisCatcher: Active foreign matter separation and coarse reduction
With the DebrisCatcher, Vogelsang has extended its portfolio for protection of plant components against foreign matter and coarse objects. It ensures efficient separation of heavy material in a housing optimized by fluid dynamic simulations. Coarse matter and clumps contained in fluid flows are reduced to an unproblematic manageable size at the strainer by a slow-turning unclogger. In this way, the DebrisCatcher prevents damage to pumps and valves as well as blockage due to harmful solids and coarse matter. The drive shaft is supported by a counter bearing, which ensures a high level of stability. The low speed of the unclogger means a low drive power is sufficient for reliable protection at flow rates of up to 150 m3/h at 13% DM content.

The DebrisCatcher is particularly suitable for biogas plants that do not require any further reduction as the substrate is already finely chopped, like maize silage, but where the plant still needs to be protected from foreign matter and coarse objects. These frequently occur in fresh liquid manure for example. Combined with the Debris Removal System by Vogelsang the DebrisCatcher can discharge the separated foreign matter fully automatically without any interruption to operation or opening of the machine.

IQ rotary lobe pump: Now for biogas plants too
Vogelsang will be presenting its new and innovative IQ152 rotary lobe pump series for biogas applications. The IQ152 pumps attains delivery rates of up to 154 m3/h at pressures of up to 7 bar and is distinguished by its user-friendly design. The pump chamber comprises a central component that can be dismounted in just a few turns of the hand. Access to the delivery elements provides for easy service and maintenance work while the pump itself remains securely mounted inline. The number of essential spare parts has been reduced by half so that both the costs and the time required to replace wear parts has been significantly reduced. The standard integrated liquid reservoir and the InjectionSystem prevents damage by foreign matter and dry running of the pump while at the same time, increases suction capacity. Variable connections make assembly easier and ensures all common installation situations are possible.

Optimal solid matter feeding even for small biogas plants
Modified sizes of CC-Mix and PreMix solid matter feeder, specially designed for the requirements of small biogas plants, are another new addition to our product portfolio. Based on our tried-and-tested PreMix and CC-Mix units, they are a particularly economical solution for solid matter feeding for small plants of up to 150 kW.
