Vogelsang presents the new solids reduction technology for food waste at IFAT 2016

"In industrial food production, waste presents great challenges for the pumping and maceration equipment. Depending on the matter being handled, companies need the right processing chain for their situation. Our new RedUnit combines Vogelsang's tried-and-tested pumps and grinders into a single unit. In this way, we offer individually tailored solutions for trouble-free disposal of food waste," says Harald Vogelsang, Managing Director of Hugo Vogelsang Maschinenbau GmbH.

RedUnit – modular solution for tough solids reduction
The new RedUnit combines the advantages of Vogelsang's proven XRipper twin-shaft grinder, RotaCut wet macerator and CC-series progressive cavity pump. It allows large quantities of coarse or fine solid matter to be shredded into media that can be easily processed for further use. The unit can be flexibly adapted to the user's individual situation. For example, it is available in various materials such as stainless steel for the food industry or other materials depending on the specifications. The technology modules can be put together individually to form an entire conveying system complete with intelligent control technology.

 

"This modular solution is ideal for disposing of food waste, for instance in the meat or vegetable processing industries or in sugar production plants," explains Vogelsang. He goes on to say that the RedUnit is especially suited for processing fruit, vegetable, bread and fish waste as well as for disposing of animal remains, such as offal, bones and hooves, or mixed organic waste from supermarkets and restaurants.

VX series – rotary lobe pump for media containing foreign matter
Vogelsang rotary lobe pumps meet the special requirements of the food and waste management industry. The pumps in the VX series reliably convey abrasive and viscous media containing foreign and fibrous matter. Their design makes them particularly robust and easy to maintain. Plus, they have good priming properties and are resistant to dry running; the flow direction can be easily reversed. Vogelsang rotary lobe pumps are used for gently and easily pumping dairy and sugar products or fruit and vegetables. Additional fields of application include filling and draining tanks and disposing of food waste.

CC-series progressive cavity pump for easy service
The CC (CavityComfort) progressive cavity pump series adds to Vogelsang's pump range. Compared to other products on the market, service and maintenance work on the CC series is significantly faster and easier and takes up less space. There is no need to dismount pipes or individually remove a large number of parts. You can simply replace the entire rotating unit or just the rotor and stator with a new unit.
