The rotary lobe pump principle
How Vogelsang rotary lobe pumps work

The rotary lobe pump is a positive displacement pump. The pumping principle is based on two counter-rotating pumping elements, known as the rotary lobes. These are mounted on two synchronized shafts. The rotational movement of the lobes increases the volume of the pumping chamber on the suction side. This creates suction, which draws the medium into the rotary lobe pump. As the rotational movement continues, the medium is then enclosed in cavities between the rotary lobes and pump housing and it is issued on the discharge side by the pumping chambers as they reduce in size again; the rotary lobe pump conveys the medium directly. Due to their mirror-symmetrical design, rotary lobe pumps are independent of the direction of rotation and can pump in either direction without restriction. The HiFlo lobes developed in the 1990s operate pulsation-free, ensuring low-vibration and exceptionally gentle pumping.

The flexible farmer pump for everyday farm work
Rotary lobe pumps of the FX series for agricultural applications

The FX series, or FarmerPump, is Vogelsang's liquid manure pump. It was custom-developed for agricultural use, and makes pumping easier at a reasonable cost. The upgraded product from the proven R series has an industrial-standard block ring seal, a rotating separation plate and a circulating oil lubrication system integrated as standard. That makes the FarmerPump ideal for everyday routine work on the farm. The FarmerPump is also flexible in application: It can be operated anywhere via a power take-off, for example as a permanent installation, or as a mobile unit with the three-point base. The rotating separation plate between the lobes prevents the accumulation of fibrous matter in the liquid manure. This maintains the full pump performance and minimizes diesel or electricity consumption. This rotary lobe pump is a professional liquid manure pump with no torque increase. Its performance range was specially designed for agricultural use, with six expansion stages up to max. 8 bar and max. 4,500 l/min.

Features of the FX series

With our extensive selection of lobe geometry and materials, we will find the right long-life lobe for your media, e.g. NBR, NBR white, EPDM-SL, EPDM-AL, EPDM white, CSM, FKM, PU, stainless steel oder nitrided steel. The lobes can be produced in a straight, double-wing geometry or as 3-wing; 4-wing or 6-wing, pulsation-free HiFlo lobes.

Additional information:
Alongside the standard model in abrasion-resistant gray cast iron, versions in stainless steel are stocked as well. Other options for customization include heat treatment and wear-resistant coatings for the wear plates and housing components.
Axial wear plates are made from highly wear-resistant special steel and therefore extend maintenance intervalls. They offer protection for the entire pump chamber and therefore not only simplify maintenance, but also minimize downtime. At the same time costs are minimized.

Additional information:
Thanks to the oil circulation lubrication, the FarmerPump requires almost no maintenance at all. An oil pump built into the gearbox provides an even and constant supply of oil to all the relevant gaskets, thus removing the need for manual lubrication.
The rotating separation plate between the lobes prevents the accumulation of fibrous matter. This helps to maintain full pump performance and minimizes diesel and electricity consumption.
The block ring seals installed in the FarmerPump are special mechanical seals made to industry standards. The special design has been developed especially to increase the pump's resistance to fibers in the liquid manure, thus significantly extending the lifetime of the unit compared to those that use traditional mechanical seals.
