IQ series – The industry pump with minimal maintenance time and low operational costs

The IQ series is a rotary lobe pump with an innovative concept. The pump chamber is fully integrated in the pump cover and the access to the pumping elements is easy only with a few steps, while the pump remains firmly screwed into the pipeline. That makes maintenance easy and fast. This is an important feature for industry applications, where it is required to minimize maintenance time and operational cost.
The number of central spare parts has been reduced by 50 %. The costs for spare parts are reduced accordingly, and allow further cost savings as the time required for cleaning and replacing parts has been significantly reduced. IQ industry pumps are designed so that less than half the time is required to replace wear parts – including rotary lobes, wear plates, the pump housing and gaskets – compared to rotary lobe pumps that are commonly found on the market.
The compact and space-saving design allows the IQ series to be integrated into any system. They require almost 70 % less space than a progressive cavity pump. Other benefits for industrial applications include the InjectionSystem, the HiFlo® lobes, the Quality Cartridge mechanical seal and their special connectors, ensuring maximum efficiency to the system.

IQ series – Greater cost-effectiveness thanks to reduced maintenance and servicing

A significant advantage brought to many biogas plants by Vogelsang's rotary lobe pumps has been perfected even further in the pumps in the IQ series: As a result of their unique design, they can be installed with no hassle, are easy to handle and, most importantly, they can be serviced or repaired quickly and simply on site.
With their variable connector parts, the rotary lobe pumps in the IQ series can be easily adapted to common installation scenarios. Equipped with an integrated fluid buffer and the InjectionSystem as standard, they boast optimal suction characteristics and are ideal for drawing liquid manure and recirculated material, among other things, from deep sumps, even if this contains foreign matter like stones. The pump chamber consists of one central part, which can be dismounted in a few easy steps. This allows access to the pumping elements for servicing and maintenance work while the pump itself remains securely screwed into the pipe of the biogas plant. At the same time, the number of spare parts in the rotary lobe pumps of the IQ series has been halved, for a significant reduction in both the cost and the time required to replace wear parts.
The computer-optimized housing shape and the resulting high level of efficiency combined with the pulsation-free HiFlo® lobes bring about economical and low-vibration pumping at biogas plants.

IQ series – Incredibly easy to maintain and handle

The innovative design of the rotary lobe pumps in the IQ series is Vogelsang's answer to the all too familiar demand in the waste water sector: "Cut costs and increase efficiency". Whether used as a sludge pump in a sewage treatment plant, as a waste water pump in the sewer system or on tankers or disposal vehicles, Vogelsang rotary lobe pumps from the IQ series can be adapted to common installation scenarios quickly and easily thanks to their variable connector parts. The integrated InjectionSystem makes the rotary lobe pumps resistant to foreign matter in the waste water and, together with the built-in dry running protection, ensures high suction capability. As with all rotary lobe pumps, the flow direction of the IQ series can be reversed by simply changing the direction of rotation. It doesn't matter if they're used as a waste water pump or as a sludge pump, the pumps in this series reliably draw fluids from the deepest of shafts. Given their high efficiency, they not only convey waste water, but also abrasive primary sludge or highly viscous, thickened sludge, for example. The HiFlo® lobes invented by Vogelsang make pulsation-free and low-vibration pumping possible here.
What makes these pumps unique is their maintainability. Upon removing the pump cover, all wear parts, which have been significantly reduced in number, are optimally accessible and can be replaced by the user in just a few simple steps. This means that the space required for servicing and maintenance work is next to nothing, which is a real advantage for the user when space is tight, as is the case with shafts or mobile pump units.

Quality cartridge: The mechanical seal for pumps by Vogelsang
The Quality Cartridge mechanical seal is checked in the factory and when it is changed, all of the seal components are also replaced. This protects against sudden failures of the seal and potentially fatal damage. The complete unit is easy to change, and the replacement process takes significantly less time.

Additional information:

Unlike conventional lobes, Vogelsang’s HiFlo® lobes ensure pulsation-free pumping and consequently longer lifetimes for the drive and coupling. At the same time, the suction capacity is increased due to the higher number of sealing lines. The improved internal sealing enables suction from deep pits.

without making any modifications; this can increase capacity by as
much as 40%.


Alongside the standard model in abrasion-resistant gray cast iron, versions in stainless steel are stocked as well. Other options for customization include heat treatment and wear-resistant coatings for the wear plates and housing components.
An ATEX-compliant version can be supplied for use in areas subject to explosion hazards.

The rotary lobe pump is a positive displacement pump. The principle is ingeniously simple: the rotating elastomer-coated lobes provide a continuous sealing line between the suction and discharge sides. The medium is trapped in a cavity and transferred along the top and bottom housing segments. This works equally well in both directions which makes the pump fully reversible, without a preferred direction of rotation, and enables a particularly compact type of construction but also gentle pumping, good priming and dry-running characteristics and easy access to the pumping elements.

The IQ series were designed in order to minimize downtime periods and maximize service time. This is possible thanks to a unique concept: the specific design of the pump housing reduces the work required and the number of spare parts, and thereby the operating cost.

The maintenance of a rotary lobe pump has never been so easy and fast: the required time of an IQ series is reduced considerably by up to 30 % compared with other positive displacement pumps. The number of spare parts has also been reduced by 50 % in comparison to the conventional design. Thanks to these characteristics, the IQ series become the only chance when availability and service time are the key points of an installation.
