Optimal pumping of slurry
Rotary lobe pumps - efficient slurry management

For more efficient slurry spreading, the slurry often needs to be pumped from a deep sump into a tanker or another container in the yard. Farmers and agricultural contractors require slurry pumping technology that is reliable, high-performing, and tailored to their specific needs. Key considerations include: How can I pump slurry most effectively? How can I move large volumes quickly? and Which slurry pump is best suited for mobile use?

Rotary pumps as all-rounder solution

Rotary lobe pumps have become an important part of modern slurry handling, and they’re at the heart of today’s spreading systems. We invented this technology, and we keep improving our pumps so they meet the everyday needs of farmers and contractors.

Our slurry pumps are self-priming down to nine metres, so you can easily pump from deep sumps into a tanker or container. They’re built for high performance, making tanker filling quick and straightforward.

You can use our pumps in a fixed position, on a three-point linkage, or mounted directly on the tank. And with three drive options – mechanical, electric, or hydraulic – you can choose the setup that works best for your farm or business.

Use of the slurry pump on the tanker

When it comes to slurry pumps for tankers, being self-priming and high-performance is just the start. Our Rotary lobe pumps are also compact, work in either direction, and can handle foreign matter – making them a tough, reliable choice for farm work.

Because our Vogelsang slurry pumps are lightweight and compact, you can carry a bigger load in your tanker and still fill it faster and more completely. This means you make the most of your storage capacity and keep transport as efficient as possible.

Unlike vacuum systems, which can struggle with issues like foam in the tanker, our rotary lobe pumps can fill tanks up to 30% quicker – helping you get the job done faster and with less hassle.

Rotary lobe pumps vs. vacuum pumps

With a tanker, the same pump you use for filling can also be used for emptying. A Vogelsang rotary lobe slurry pump spreads slurry smoothly and evenly, no matter the liquid level or pressure in the tank – exactly what’s needed to make the most of slurry as a natural, organic fertiliser.

Easy, quick servicing is just as important, so you’re not losing time in the yard or the field. Our QuickService design means Vogelsang slurry pumps can be repaired without taking them off the machine, keeping downtime to an absolute minimum and getting you back to work faster.

Additional filling options

Support of the vacuum tank with filling aids

Another option for filling a tanker is a vacuum system, but these often come with two main problems – foam build-up and slower filling times. Both can be frustrating and cost you valuable time.

That’s where the Vogelsang PowerFill comes in. Thanks to its large housing, it delivers strong filling performance at much lower speeds, which means less foam and much faster filling overall. It can be fitted on either the suction or discharge side, and with its simple flange connection, it’s easy to retrofit to your existing setup. The can be inserted both on the suction and the discharge side and can be retrofitted easily using a flange connection.

Stationary and mobile filling stations

Tank filling stations are a great option for stationary setups, such as fixed tanks or terminal storage at a biogas plant. They save time and hassle by removing the need for constant hose coupling and uncoupling. Instead, the tank is filled quickly through a dome with a built-in filling nozzle.

For in-field work, mobile filling stations make it easy to fill tanks quickly and comfortably at the edge of the field. Vogelsang offers both options –the  FillMaster S for stationary filling and the FillMaster M for mobile filling – giving you fast, convenient solutions wherever you need them.
