VX series – the rotary lobe pump for liquid manure technology
Vogelsang rotary lobe pumps in the VX series are the ideal partner for liquid manure technology. On the one hand this liquid manure pump offers every tanker size maximum capacity thanks to its high efficiency. On the other hand, they are independent of the direction of rotation. This saves on pipes to tankers. But this also enables more efficient use of the payload on the tanker, self-propelled vehicle or liquid manure transporter. Thanks to their compact dimensions, the VX series pumps are ideal for mobile applications and are up to 37% lighter than comparable models. Added to this, with its wealth of technical innovations, the VX series is designed to increase operational safety in the tank and to lengthen the service life. For example, the HiFlo lobes guarantee low pulsation pumping compared to conventional lobes. This enables higher limiting speeds and greater delivery rates. This is especially useful for applications on tankers. The patented InjectionSystem stops the lobe tips from being damaged by foreign matter such as hoof blocks, as the innovative housing shape allows the optimum flow of foreign matter through the rotary lobe pump. Its excellent maintainability makes it possible to change all components without dismounting the rotary lobe pump. This makes it possible to keep standstill to a minimum during the liquid manure season, for example. All these characteristics show that the VX series is the ideal solution for a liquid manure pump.
Biogas
VX series – the all-rounder pump for biogas plants
The rotary lobe pumps in the VX series are the ideal solution for many pumping tasks in biogas plants. They reliably convey liquid manure, greases, flotation tailing and other liquid media – directly to the digester, the mashing tank or the liquid feeding system, or to digestate dewatering. The patented HiFlo® lobes enable pulsation-free and low-vibration pumping.
In many biogas plants, rotary lobe pumps from the VX series act as the central pump. They prime liquid manure out of pits, evacuating air from empty pipes in the process. Even if the liquid manure contains foreign matter such as stones and screws: thanks to the InjectionSystem and the large free passage, Vogelsang rotary lobe pumps are resistant to foreign matter. Even organic suspensions, recirculate or low-viscosity digestate can be pumped without difficulty, e.g. from the digester to the post digester and vice versa: By changing the direction of rotation of the drive, it is easy to reverse the flow direction. This characteristic is also an advantage for tankers, as only one pump is needed for both filling and draining. The VX series stands out here thanks to its small space requirements: The pumps can generally be installed easily on a vehicle or in the space between the digester and post digester.
Thanks to the QuickService concept, they can be serviced or repaired quickly and simply on site. All wear parts can be changed without dismounting and with limited space requirements, in order to restore 100% of the capacity.
Industry
VX-Serie – the rotary lobe pump for a wide range of industrial applications
The rotary lobe pumps in the VX series are the perfect solution for a variety of industrial applications. For example, they can be used to pump viscous media such as oil in the petrochemical industry or molasses in the sugar industry. Fluids such as those in the wine industry, with a high solids content like sediment or pomace, can be pumped as effectively as waste water oils in recycling applications or media in a potentially explosive environment (ATEX). With their resistance to dry running and their ability to pump in either direction of rotation, the rotary lobe pumps in the VX series are the ideal solution for filling and unloading tanks in storage areas, tankers or ships.
The compact and space-saving design means that these rotary lobe pumps can be integrated into any system. Thanks to further innovations, such as the patented InjectionSystem or the unique HiFlo lobes, pumps in the VX series guarantee maximum efficiency in operation. We also developed the QuickService concept to further increase the availability of your plant. Maintenance work can be performed quickly and on site, without having to dismantle the rotary lobe pump. With five different series and more than 25 different sizes for this sturdy, technically advanced, well-constructed and powerful pump technology, we offer the perfect pump for any application.
Transportation
VX series – the core element of our supply and disposal systems
The rotary lobe pumps in the VX series are the centerpiece of our waste water disposal and fresh water supply systems for the rail, bus and boat segments. Thanks to their ability to pump viscous fluids with a high foreign matter content, the VX series pumps are ideal for these applications. The rotary lobe pumps in the VX series can be used as the main component of a double pump station, a T-system or a supply cabinet for rail transportation. They can also be installed in ports in the PierPump form in order to pump away waste water or bilge water, or as the RoadPump in bus stations, in depots or gas stations and rest stops on the highway. Vogelsang pumps are very compact, sturdy and exceptionally powerful, which makes the system very effective. Thanks to the QuickService concept, any maintenance work necessary can be completed quickly and easily. For outdoor installations, the systems can be heated and installed in a stainless steel version.
Wastewater
VX series – the all-rounder pump for wastewater and sludges
The rotary lobe pumps in the VX series pump sludge efficiently in waste water treatment; from primary sludge, through excess and secondary sludge, to concentrated digested sludge or sewage sludge. But the VX series rotary lobe pumps are also suitable for waste water loaded with foreign matter. The large free passage and the InjectionSystem make them resistant to foreign matter. The ability of the rotary lobe pumps to also prime from pits and to evacuate air from empty waste water pipes make the VX series pumps ideal for waste water. The symmetrical design makes it possible to operate the pumps in both directions, e.g. to extract from disposal vehicles and also to fill tankers using the same pump. The HiFlo® lobes provide pulsation-free, low-vibration pumping of wastewater and sludges. The combination of high output and minimal space requirements make the rotary lobe pumps in the VX series the ideal solution for mobile pump units. Thanks to other special features and options, they have long service lives, whether used in a sewage treatment plant or the sewers. When maintenance or service work is necessary, the pumps can be maintained or repaired quickly and easily by in-house staff at the sewage treatment plant or the pumping station, thanks to the QuickService concept. On request, our service mechanics can perform all the necessary service and maintenance work. The shafts are sealed as standard using a mechanical seal, but a block ring seal is also available – and it can conform to air quality control guidelines (TA-Luft) if necessary.

The rotary lobe pump is a positive displacement pump. The pumping principle behind rotary lobe pumps is based on two counter-rotating pumping elements, known as the rotary lobes. These are mounted on two overhung shafts synchronized by means of synchronized gearing. The bearings for the shafts are also arranged in the gearbox housing. The rotational movement of the lobes increases the volume of the pumping chamber on the suction side. This creates suction, which draws the medium into the rotary lobe pump. As the rotational movement continues, the medium is then enclosed in cavities between the rotary lobes and pump housing and it is issued on the discharge side by the pumping chambers as they reduce in size again; the rotary lobe pump conveys the medium directly. Due to their mirror-symmetrical design, rotary lobe pumps are independent of the direction of rotation and can pump in either direction without restriction. The HiFlo lobes developed in the 1990s operate pulsation-free, ensuring low-vibration and exceptionally gentle pumping.
We use a variety of simple options to make the VX series mobile. This way, a pump can perform its pumping tasks at various locations, and transporting the pump from one place to the next couldn’t be easier.
To supply extinguishing water, for example, the VX series can be placed on a trailer and operated by a combustion motor in that position. Fire departments are then ideally equipped for emergencies such as firefighting or flooding. Long suction lines over rough terrain and hard-to-access deployment sites are then no longer a problem. The VX series is resistant to dry running and can also prime extinguishing water across long distances.
