The customer and the problem

Bilboats is a tourist boats company located on the Bilbao Estuary which is operating two vessels. The IBAI ALAI offers regular cruises on the Estuary, from which passengers can enjoy spectacular views of the Guggenheim Museum. It can carry up to 500 passengers throughout the day in high season and has a 1,300-litre sewage tank. The IBAI EDER, which is hired out for events, has a 700-litre tank. 
Due to environmental concerns, they needed to empty the tanks of both vessels without polluting the surrounding area.
A further challenge was that the pumping system had to be clean, discreet, quiet and odourless because it is located next to a restaurant.
