IFAT: Vogelsang presents its new pumping and grinding technology for wastewater, industry, and recycling industries

Essen (Oldenburg), Germany, April 1, 2026 – Vogelsang GmbH & Co. KG will be presenting new pumping and grinding solutions for wastewater, industry, and the recycling sector at IFAT (May 4–7, 2026) in Munich, Germany.

With innovations such as the RotaCut Professional, the compact HiCone pump series and the high-performance RedUnit XRL, Vogelsang addresses one of the industry’s key challenges: achieving maximum performance with minimal energy consumption. This year, the company will be presenting its new products at two industry-specific trade fair stands:

  • At stand 347 in hall B1, Vogelsang will be exhibiting new wet grinders and pumps for wastewater and industry. The products on show will include the RotaCut Professional macerator with need-based speed control, delivering up to 80 percent energy savings, 70 percent less wear and a reduction in CO emissions of more than 12 tons per year. Also on show: the new, compact HiCone models for conveying capacities of up to 20m3 per hour.

  • At stand 128 in hall B6, Vogelsang will be presenting the new industrial grinders of the RedUnit XRL series, which are even more powerful and compact at the same time. They are particularly suitable for applications in the recycling industry.

RotaCut Professional: energy-efficient cutting

With the RotaCut Professional, Vogelsang has combined its established RotaCut wet cutter with intelligent control technology that keeps the machine running at peak efficiency, ensuring highly efficient automated operation.

“With the RotaCut Professional, we are setting new standards in the field of wet cutting and once again underlining our technological leadership,” says Fabian Oversohl, Product Manager for Shredding & Treatment at Vogelsang. “Operators today need solutions that combine efficiency, reliability and sustainability. With the RotaCut Professional, we deliver exactly that.”

Frequently used in wastewater treatment plants, the RotaCut macerates fibers and solids. These flow through the macerator with the wastewater or sludge and are held back by the cutting screen. In eco operating mode, the control unit constantly monitors the load on the macerator and regulates optimum operation, for example increasing the speed as the load increases to prevent blockages in the cutting screen. Once an unobstructed flow is achieved again, the speed is reduced to the required minimum. This reduces energy consumption and operating costs by as much as 80 percent and wear and tear by 70 percent. Depending on its application and running times, the resulting reductions in CO emissions amount to 12 tons per year or more.

Oversohl: “The RotaCut Professional is based on our proven RotaCut series RCQ and RCX, designed for easy maintenance, and automatic blade readjustment thanks to the ACC plus. It can be operated intuitively and stands out for its significantly reduced life cycle costs.”

Compact, flexible, cost-efficient: HiCone expands the portfolio

Vogelsang will also be presenting several new sizes of the HiCone conical progressive cavity pump, which the machine manufacturer has developed specifically for pumping capacities in the lower range up to 20m3 per hour. This makes the pumps suitable for numerous applications in the wastewater sector and in industry, and they can be used flexibly depending on individual requirements. Like the larger models, the smaller variants of the HiCone are based on the conical rotor-stator geometry but differ in their design: If there are signs of wear, a central screw is used for readjustment, thus simplifying and speeding up adjustment and readjustment with no special tools required. Users benefit from a much longer service life. A status display also makes it possible to plan necessary maintenance work, and there's another plus point: The standardized installation space for the mechanical seal makes it possible to use numerous seals from well-known manufacturers.

Also on show at the stand will be twin-shaft grinders from the XRipper series and rotary lobe pumps from the robust VX and IQ series.

More power, less space: RedUnit XRL for demanding applications

For industrial and recycling applications, Vogelsang introduces the new RedUnit XRL series – delivering higher throughput and more torque in an even more compact design. The optimized service concept with large access panels minimizes maintenance time and maximizes system availability. Even challenging materials can be processed reliably and efficiently.

“We have combined higher performance with a more compact footprint – a decisive advantage for modern recycling processes,” says Stephen Tapken, Research & Development Shredding & Treatment at Vogelsang.

For industrial applications, especially for the recycling industry, Vogelsang will be showcasing its entire range of RedUnit industrial grinders and presenting the new, more powerful and higher-throughput RedUnit XRL grinders. The three new models in the RedUnit XRL series stand out for their high throughput rate and are therefore also suitable for demanding shredding applications. The sophisticated service concept with large service flaps on the side simplifies maintenance and increases system availability.

Stephen Tapken: “With the new RedUnit series, we have succeeded in achieving more torque and a higher throughput rate with the same or an even smaller size. The industrial solid grinders stand for economical shredding of various, even stubborn solids. The intelligent control system automatically rectifies faults and thus ensures reliable operation.”

All models of the RedUnit series are equipped with monolithic ripper rotors made from a single block of special steel, making it possible to change parts quickly and easily. The industrial grinders are exhibited with different materials and drives. They are also available in a stainless-steel version and are liquid-tight, which makes them particularly suitable for processing organic waste and food waste. Depending on requirements and needs, the industrial grinders can be combined as a system unit with a downstream progressive cavity pump and an additional RotaCut wet cutter for further fine processing.
